I had 150k before mine started leaking, and almost 100k of that was running 85w140 Royal Purple. We are both in the same boat.I don't buy the heat issue, not the fluid weight. Just wanted to hear some ideas, cause I'm about used up. Do i just let this thing keep leaking until it gets bad? It really doesn't lose that much oil.I'm very surprised at just how little it loses, but would like to have it fixed. Looking at five hundred close on by the end of it. The labour won't be bad.cheaper out here than at home. So basically its going to cost me a whole steaming pantload of money to have this thing om the fluid (gear oil is brutally priced!) to having a yoke on hand just in case (no speedy sleeve available if needed for my year and yoke. My fluid level is where it should be on the dip stick for the aftermarket cover (I asked where it should be to confirm and the guy said that was where it should be.in between add and fill. I have checked my vent line and its fine. I wondered a while back if heat was a culprit, but due to my inexperience with diffs, was unsure. Now, I'm a ticketed mechanic (but I did not tell them that) and diffs are not my specialty (heavy duty is what I have mostly worked on, and not diffs).but I kinda wondered about this one. ![]() He also checked it out on the shop floor while I was there. He says that he feels heat killed the seal and that I should have the seal replaced and refill with 75W140.75W90 is my normal fill. So, Its leaking again.I take it into a local four wheel drive off road place here in town and speak to the guy there who does all the diff work in that place (shop rate is less than half here than where I normally reside. ![]() Yoke replaced once.supposedly last time Dodge dealer worked on it they did some checks on it.įirst time it leaked, it was with stock diff cover and fill.ģrd time same, yoke replaced, checks done (so they told me) Seal has been replaced three times under warranty. ![]()
